Overcoming Turbocharger Failure and Fuel Pump Leaks
Royston Australia recently stepped in at short notice to help a leading Marine Vessel Operator with one of its Anchor Handling Tug Supply vessels, which was suffering from a failed turbocharger and leaking fuel pumps.
When given one day’s notice of a three-day maintenance window, we immediately sent a two-man team to Karratha to carry out on-board repairs. We removed and replaced the turbo charger, removed the faulty fuel pumps, and fully inspected, stripped and rebuilt them before putting them back on the Niigata 6MG28AHX engine, which was then sea trailed, with recommendations made for further work.
As Niigata service and spare parts agents with stock on hand in Perth, RA tackled the job quickly and successfully.
